KOI PRODUCTION AT HAZOREA AQUATICS :
| There are very few Koi growing facilities in the world where
high quality Koi of all sizes are grown from birth to shipment in an entirely enclosed and self-sustaining system.
The advantages of such a system are obvious - especially in light of the current epidemic of Carp virus.
Following trials, years of research and a successful pilot project at its fish hatchery, Hazorea Aquatics
is raising Koi in a revolutionary new "high-tech" system, completely isolated from the rest of its fish
hatchery and outdoor ponds. Strict measures of disinfection and sterilization are enforced regarding personnel,
instrumentation and tools so that no kind of disease or infection can be "imported" into the system.
The system itself is not sterile and provides the Koi with as natural an environment as is possible under
the conditions described. High quality Koi can be bred and grown in the system while minimizing the risk of
contamination. All the fish in the system are always completely visible and in a controlled environment
(as opposed to the fish in outside ponds), and therefore staff can respond immediately to any problem.
Water quality can be monitored constantly and any signs of bacteria, parasites or infection can be spotted
quickly and in sufficient time to react suitably and before the damage becomes irreparable.
The Israeli Ministry of Agriculture has shown considerable interest in the Hazorea Aquatics Koi facility
because of its economic feasibility, its potential for containment of dangerous diseases, and since it affords
a considerable saving of water - a resource that Israel is trying to conserve.
Hazorea Aquatics' Koi fry are spawned from meticulously chosen and prepared broodstock.
The system has been designed to provide optimum conditions for growing the Koi to the size required for
marketing. Body shape and coloration are achieved through a specially developed diet and growing regime,
in order to ensure the necessary mix of high quality Koi that can compete on the market. Our main concern
is to produce healthy, high quality Koi that will be a source of pride and joy to our customers while
ensuring their peace of mind.
